I have thrown hundreds of parties over the years and planning a baby shower for my own daughter Amanda, along with my grandbaby on the way, made the experience a delightful undertaking!
When I heard this particular shower would be featured in the spring issue of Mingle magazine I was over the moon about it. I am so excited for my daughter to have this incredible memory to share with her baby someday.
The setting for this shower took place at Kings Fish House located in Corona Ca.
I set out to create an atmosphere where Amanda’s adventurous personality echoed through the occasion.
Together, with a friend we sketched out the plan for this spectacular night. My ideas usually explode when something creative catches my eye. From there, anything is fair game!
Ideas like woodland creatures, Indian headdress’, and camp trends rambled by. Then as I scrolled along a “Wild One” cake topper caught my eye then suddenly, I knew what I needed to do. A rugged theme of wonder paired with adventure came alive all through my mind. Arrows, teepees, fur, and fun ideas filled my thoughts. I discovered a great teepee invite on Minted then moved forward to the decorations.
I used the black and white checkered tablecloths which are customary at Kings as a springboard. I added organic brown paper down the center table, placed fresh flower arrangements which peeked out from inside galvanized containers, and framed the custom menu with the black and white enamelware plates. Tribal style pictures set the stage while black and white balloons flew high. I accented the table simply with old fashioned mason jars as candle holders placed right on top of tree stump chargers.
The breezy backdrop felt cozy, inviting and rustic. The patio is visible as guests entered so the reception began even before guests found their way onto the patio. As the ladies arrived jaws fell, smiles broke out and warm words launched us all into a great event.
I don't think a party is a party without an enchanting cake.
I enlisted my favorite bakery to create a striking cake to place the “Wild One” topper on! I skirted the cake with oversized scrabble letters which helped build the anticipation of the mystery baby gender.
I sought after simple games. I wanted guests to be able to stay comfortable in their seats while they played. I watched as guests madly scratched the “Baby Onesie” scratchers to find out who had the onesie. Little black and white boxes filled with Sees candy made great prizes. The ladies played a fun “What’s in Your Purse” game while they waited on their appetizers to arrive.
The best gatherings are the ones full of loved ones! I saw so many familiar faces enjoying the party! Guests laughed and cried the night away. The scene filled with Amanda’s friends and family chatting everywhere, stuffed with cake, full from delicious food, their arms bursting with treats and most of all adoring her.
Right before Amanda opened her gifts the time came for the gender reveal experience. We all counted down, then swiftly everyone popped their gender reveal popper and guess what? Each person screamed as blue confetti shot through the air! Everyone soon realized, “It’s a boy!” Then Amanda unveiled the name to everyone at the celebration. Everyone shouted with joy as they welcomed the new little “Wild One” Jaxon Julian.”
